Robin MacLachlan is a communications and government relations consultant at Summa Strategies. Mr. MacLachlan has a thorough understanding of the machinery of government and how policy is influenced from inside and outside of parliament.

Mr. MacLachlan’s knowledge of communications, organization and policy development was shaped by the years he spent working for former NDP Leader Ed Broadbent and current NDP Foreign Affairs Critic Paul Dewar. In addition to his parliamentary experience, Robin has worked on communications and advocacy campaigns at the Rideau Institute, providing strategic communications advice to civil society and non-profit organizations to help them achieve their legislative, research and communications objectives.

Since joining Summa Strategies, Mr. MacLachlan has worked with businesses, associations and non-profit organizations covering a broad range of sectors including sports and culture, technology, energy, public safety and health and wellness. He is also a frequent political commentator for television, radio and print. When he’s not involved in advocacy campaigns, Robin continues to play competitive rugby and is a coach and administrator with his local rugby club.

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Mr. MacLachlan has political organizational experience at the local, provincial and federal level and a thorough understanding of the Atlantic Canadian business environment.

Mr. MacLachlan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in Political Science from McGill University and is proficient in both official languages.
